Welcome Back!

We interrupt this Blog hiatus to bring you an update on the Krinke Family...

We are alive! I guess I blinked again and time flew by without my noticing. I have had several blog posts floating around the back of my mind that just never made it to the computer. Sorry to leave you hanging. Enjoy the next 6 posts and pictures. All is well and life is busy!

Is it summer yet?

So here we are the first day of June and hardly any heat to show for it. I'm not usually one to complain about the weather being too mild, but that pool is my saving grace once the kids are out of school. We need some heat people!

The kids still get in when we give in to their pleading, despite the frigid water temperature. When pleas to get in the pool are granted only to be followed by pleas for hot chocolate, you know its just a little early in the season.

However, this weekend did present enough warmth for Drew to try on his suit and do a little splashing. I can't wait 'til he can toddle around the pool deck in his little 'man'-shorts!

Bling

Much to her daddy's dismay, Caitlin decided to have her ears pierced last week. We had originally set the minimum age at 8 because it seemed so far away at the time. Low and behold her eighth birthday snuck up on us. And even though we weren't quite ready for this 'right of passage', Caity was.

After a lengthy discussion about maturity and responsibility and how her new earrings would be a symbol of her committing to a new level of accountability, we skipped off to the mall as a family.

Caitlin was all smiles until the moment of truth:

But there were no tears and as soon as we handed her a mirror the smile was back.

As usual if I turn my back Drew's on another adventure. Gotta watch that boy!

Another year already?

How does each year sneak up so fast. I swear I was just typing about how I couldn't believe she was 7, and now my baby is 8!? Caitlin had another wonderful birthday party full of adventure. She chose to take her friends to a rock wall gym in Sacramento called "Pipe-Works". The girls all had a blast and stretched their skills and abilities. They all climbed the rock walls and bouldering walls, walked the tight rope, had a couple turns to swing from one of the walls, and of course enjoyed the usual cake and goodies.

Happy Birthday to my first baby who's not a baby anymore!

makes me smile

Our little boy is so much fun! Boys truly are very different than girls. The girls could get into mischief at this age but were more likely to be sitting still looking at books or playing with a single age-appropriate toy. Drew on the other hand is constantly exploring everything and almost always is into something "off limits". I love his devilish little grin when he discovers he's been "found out".

Most fun ever!

It's official, the Krinke family loves to ski (and snowboard)! Amber is our little adventurer. She managed to learn in one season what it took Caity 3 years to get the courage to do. SO proud of these girls!
