We have the worst tooth fairy in the history of mankind. She is always late. It has sometimes taken weeks of waiting to finally receive payment for the tiny tooth stashed beneath Caitlin's pillow.
Over the years we have hypothesized what could possibly be holding her up. Maybe she is raising a whole bunch of fairy children and she is just so busy she neglects her collection route. Perhaps she only works weeknights and receives holiday time off. Maybe the effects of the recession have trickled down to the fairy level and she has experienced an increased work load due to layoffs. Or maybe the recession has effected the amount of fairy dust she receives each week and so she has to limit her usage.
Whatever the true reason is I think we have seen the last of her. I asked Caitlin if she thought she was too old for the tooth fairy to come anymore. Or maybe the tooth fairy only pays for the first 10 teeth. But last night while she was in the shower I noticed the special tooth fairy pillow we use to stash the tooth in on Caitlin's dresser. I wondered if something had happened to the tooth and peeked inside to see if it was still there. This is what I found:
I let Caitlin know she has likely offended the tooth fairy with her demand of daily interest to be payed and I think perhaps we have seen the last of our substandard fairy...

"A" is for Amber
Fine motor skills have come a little slower to our "little Bee" than most. Drawing and coloring have never interested her. But now that she has discovered the thrill of writing her own name I am finding her art all over the house. She has not yet figured out that her signature "A" gives her away every time.

I am so thrilled to see her writing I rarely give her the negative response her sister got when she was caught scribling on furniture. Not that I encourage it in the least. But it does not anger me the way it did when Caity did it. Instead of growling or yelling for her to come "right now!" and explain herself I find myself saying, "Look! She did the 'S' the right way and her 'E' isn't backwards! And there's a circle!" Poor furniture...
My favorite discovery of her "Amber was here" mark: inside the lid of the Ovaltine container.
