Around the world and back

With my last blog post being almost 4 months ago it may have seemed I fell off the face of the earth. Actually, I've just been preparing to travel around it. Having successfully been to the other side of the world and back I can officially say, "Let's do it again!" International travel rocks!

We decided to stay in San Fran the night before our flight. So after dinner with the kidlets we jumped into the giant ball of friday night traffic and made our way to the city.

We had to catch the 4am shuttle to the airport and had set an alarm for 3:45... pm. We both had the same dream that we had missed our flight. The dream got through to Brad and he woke me up at 3:47 so that we could dash down to the shuttle just in the knick of time. Our flight left San Fran at 6:30am and we played games and watched movies all the way to New York. We had just enough time to sprint to our connecting flight (it was refreshing) at JFK.

We immediately became the minority boarding the flight to Moscow. The Russian people have a very different approach to public curtesy. They were all dressed immaculately (for a 9 hour flight) in high heels, tight pants, and flawless makeup and looked ready for a photo shoot... exept for smiles. No one smiles. Watching everyone board the plane we felt like we were in a foreign country already. Everyone was so serious is was actually comical.

We did our best to sleep on the flight to Moscow... it didn't work very well. Since there is an 11 hour time difference we arrived in Moscow at about 11am Sunday morning.

After arriving at our hotel we stayed awake by walking around the beautiful city of Tver. The land in Russia is goreous! Green and lush, old and beautiful.

We LOVED the food, with only 2 exeptions, and loved trying to navigate the menu and speaking with our servers. Super fun!

By the time the end of the week came we couldn't believe it was already over. But we missed our kiddos and home is always a great place to be.
