This year Amber asked for a skating party with friends. Perfect. Mama was happy.
Until we arrived at the skating rink to discover their website had not been updated with new hours and there was not actually a free skate available that day. Um...
Fortunately most of our party guests were feeling flexible so we just took a detour to our nearest arcade at SunSplash. The girls got to enjoy arcade games and go-cart races. I threw some ice cream treats at them and they were content.
Phew.
We had the usual family party at Nana's the following weekend. And Amber brought treats to school. So all of the boxes were checked.
It may not have been the most impressive birthday year. But we celebrated fully, and so another year goes by...
