Speech

Jacob receives speech therapy once a week. He just seems to be one of those kids that steps up to the plate and hits a home run over and over again. Any time we discover he is behind with something and begin to work on it he figures it out so dang fast. To say he is "teachable" would be an understatement. Jacob LOVES his therapist and eagerly awaits her arrival when I tell him "Mary is coming."

This past week I have been teaching Jacob to call to me when he needs me. I am trying to teach him to call to me from his crib when he wakes. It is hard to tell when he is awake because he never learned to (or actually learned not to) indicate when he woke with crying, calling, or other noises. Thirteen months of orphanage care taught him to sit quietly until someone comes.

So far he will call to me everywhere but the crib: from his highchair, the bathtub (even though dad is supervising he prefers I get him out of the tub), or another room. But this morning when I told him "Mary is coming" he eagerly went to the window to watch for her. She sent me a text just then saying she would be a couple minutes late so I went to rotate a load of laundry. Then I heard this:

"Meemee" is what he calls Mary. He was disappointed that she was late, he does not wait well...
