Inventory

As we inch closer to that wonderful day when we board a plane to Russia for the last time without our son, I am trying to make progress toward preparing for this new little one. I decided to organize the boys' closet and take inventory on what we would need to purchase for his homecoming. He will have had his first birthday by the time we bring him home, but when we saw him 2 weeks ago he was still wearing size 3-6 month clothing. As I sorted through the collection of hand-me-down clothing from big brother, I realized we have a lot of shopping (or borrowing) to do.

Because we thought we were done having babies, I had given all my baby clothes away before we began the process of adoption. The smallest clothing we have from Drew is size 12 months and above. You will note in the picture the right side of the closet filled with clothing is Drew's current wardrobe. The left side, for Jacob, currently has a bathrobe, 1 single hooded sweatshirt size 9 months, and 3 neckties. Hmmm, not real functional.

Realizing I am bringing a baby home in a couple weeks and don't have anything to dress him in got me thinking about other supplies we will need. Fortunately I found some bottles and burp rags I had stashed away along with one single bib. But this kid can't just hop on a bike with his brother and ride around the court. He needs some toys! Shoot. None of those either.

This could work to my advantage though... more therapeutic shopping!! Although I would need another fundraiser...

I'm not sure how this all got past my radar. I am usually the ultra-planner. I'm kind of surprised I didn't have this all lined up months ago. But, then again, we have been traveling an awful lot lately.
