We celebrated Jacob's birthday even though we can't be with him. I was tempted to play the "woe-is-me" card and be sad about missing his very first birthday. But we have way too much to be grateful for to be moping. So we threw a party instead. I hope as our "Baby J" gets bigger he can look at pictures like these and know how much we loved him before we even knew him:

 

 

I admit, the empty high chair still made my heart twinge a little bit. But my heart is so swollen with joy to be bringing home a precious one-year-old that the little twinge was only for a moment. Our forever is just around the corner...
