Stir Crazy

So? How am I holding up? How is it going being 'stuck' at home?

Well, for a person who usually gets a little nutty spending one single day at home without an outing I am doing surprisingly well. Our family is an out-and-about group of people. We love the outdoors and fresh air. Not a single one of us is what you would call a "home body". We very rarely stay "in" with the kids. Before Jacob came home the common phrase when daddy came home from work or Saturday mornings was, "where are we going today". Our kids are used to having an outing of some kind before and after nap time every day. So when Brad and I discussed what our plan would be once we got our boy home we were both a little unsure of how things would go.

All things have been provided throughout this entire adoption. Not one need has gone unmet. I believe whole heartedly I am being given the strength and patience I need to spend my days home without loosing my cool. There is an atmosphere of calm here that can only be heaven sent. I don't feel antsy until Brad gets home in the evening. And so far that has been when I take Drew in the "fast car" to run a quick errand before bath time. Our 45 minute outing with music blasting and silly playful goofing off is all I seem to need to reset. And I make sure to take the boys for a walk every day to catch some fresh air and sunlight just because I know I will need it. That has been a part of the routine since day one even though it bends the 'cocoon' rule. So, with those two 'breaks' each day, I feel pretty good.

I find it funny that before our final trip I was struggling to sleep. Now-a-days I am groggy by 8:30pm and have no problem passing out for a solid 9 hours. I even doze off with Drew in the afternoon for a 20 minute cat nap. Being a mommy of 4 stranded at home is more tiring than I expected.

I thought I would be counting down the days by now. But I am actually feeling pretty good about another week-and-a-half of confinement. Of course, the kids are out of school next week, so I can almost guarantee my tune will change around 8:30am Monday morning...
